If you installed eclipse with the from the repositories before, make sure to uninstall it completely and remove the /usr/local/eclipse file.

Alternatively, if you want to use the repository version make sure that you are calling your own launching script, and keep in mind that event if you save it as /usr/bin/eclipse, typing eclipse in the console will call the /usr/local/bin/eclipse script.</description>
